How to Embed a Video

Since we use our videos' viewcounts and comments to judge how popular each show are, we strongly recommend our visitors to embed or link our videos rather than re-upload them when sharing. By doing so, we will be able to prioritize more accurately which series to upload/update first.

Here are some quick and easy guides on how to link a video and how to embed a video from our website:

Linking a Video:
Method 1 (faster): Linking directly to a SJ Directory video post/page

  1. Start on the post that contains the desired video(s).
  2. Highlight the website URL at the top of your web browser.
  3. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "C" buttons on your keyboard) to copy the URL.
  4. Go to the post/page of your own website.
  5. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "V" buttons on your keyboard) to paste the URL.
  6. [Optional] Press the "Link" or the button to change the copied URL from text into a hyperlink.
  7. [Optional] Save your work and check to make sure the hyperlink is working.

Method 2 (slower): Linking to the Dailymotion video page

  1. Start on the post that contains the desired video(s).
  2. Click on the title in the streaming video; a Dailymotion video page will appear.
  3. Highlight the website URL at the top of your web browser.
  4. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "C" buttons on your keyboard) to copy the URL.
  5. Go to the post/page of your own website.
  6. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "V" buttons on your keyboard) to paste the URL.
  7. Repeat this process for the other episode parts (if any) on the SJ Directory post.
  8. [Optional] Press the "Link" or the button to change the copied URLs from texts into hyperlinks.
  9. [Optional] Save your work and check to make sure the hyperlinks are working.

Embedding a Video:
Method 1 (faster but default video player): Retrieving the video embed code directly from the video

  1. Start on the post that contains the desired video(s).
  2. Click the video to start playing it.
  3. Click it again to pause the video.
  4. Press the "Export" button on the top right corner of the streaming video.
  5. Select the "Embed" option; a message will appear saying "Embed code copied! Press "ctrl + V" to paste."
  6. Go to the post/page of your own website.
  7. Make sure you are where you can edit the HTML code and not just add text.
  8. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "V" buttons on your keyboard) to paste the embed code where you want the video player to appear.
  9. Repeat this process for the other episode parts (if any) on the SJ Directory post.
  10. Save your work and check to make sure the video players are working.

Method 2 (slower but customizable video player): Retrieving the video embed code from the Dailymotion video page

  1. Start on the post that contains the desired video(s).
  2. Click the title on the streaming video; a Dailymotion video page will appear.
  3. Press the "Share" button located underneath the video.
  4. Select the "Embed" option; a pop-up will appear with options for your customized video player
  5. Select the player size, color, and other settings for your video player; the embed code will automatically update itself as you change the settings.
  6. Highlight the embed code.
  7. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "C" buttons on your keyboard) to copy the URL.
  8. Go to the post/page of your own website.
  9. Make sure you are where you can edit the HTML code and not just add text.
  10. Right click (or press the "Ctrl" and "V" buttons on your keyboard) to paste the embed code where you want the video player to appear.
  11. Repeat this process for the other episode parts (if any) on the SJ Directory post.
  12. Save your work and check to make sure the video players are working.

The methods I outlined above are just some suggestions. Vigleo could work too, but I've never tried it since I'd have to download and install the software. By following the instructions above, you only need to be able to access my website and Dailymotion.
